PROJECT ENCOMI

ENCOMI will address the study of one of the objectives of the coordinated project: collective action in the management of common goods and the processes of identity construction in farming communities in mountain areas. The territorialisation processes of local communities define the spaces under their control and on which the rules defining dependencies, privileges and duties are articulated. These condition the management capacity of local actors and identify them as members of a community defined by the management of common goods, especially in mountain areas where pastures and forests are more abundant. The aim of this subproject is to study local communities from a relational perspective, focusing on the management and exploitation of the commons, bearing in mind that the analysis of the different forms of appropriation – private, semi-collective and communal – must take into account the complexity of the very notion of “property”.
